Het concept komt uit België, waar sinds maart 2008 regelmatig getwunched wordt. Freelancer Ramon Stoppelenburg liet zich hierdoor inspireren en introduceerde Tweetlunch! aan de Nederlandse twitteraars.
Er zijn inmiddels 4 tweetlunches geweest in Nederland. Wie wilt meedoen stuurt een reply @tweetlunch. Hierdoor komt je aanmelding in de agenda, waardoor je tafelgenoten weten dat ze op je moeten wachten. Ook kan je zelf een lunch voorstellen.
Het is nog niet bekend wanneer de volgende tweetlunch plaatsvindt.

Twunch, zo heet de Tweetlunch enkel in België. Enkel daar heeft men het over Twunchen. De rest van de wereld gebruikt echter Tweetlunch. Als je even Googlet, dan zie dat Obama ook Tweetluncht :-)
